    The short drive from Keswick to Grasmere saw us get here nice and early, beating some of the bank holiday crowds. It was extremely busy later on and the village was packed with daytrippers and hikers. At one stage there were about 100 people in the queue to get into Sarah Nelsons gingerbread shop, for which Grasmere is famous.

    The weather was a mixture today, but the bursts of rain and showers did not interfere with our sightseeing.

    Our brief stop in Grasmere two years ago inspired our return and this whole time we have spent in the Lakes. The poet William Wordsworth who lived here for 14 years called it "the loveliest spot that man hath ever found" and it is hard to argue with that.
