Horton Plains

We got up at 4am and got ready for our trek. The driver came at 5am and we drove up hill for an hour to reach Horton Plains NP. It was misty and raining but we paid the steep entrance fee and continued on our way.

We reached the trail head car park and set off. We followed the path around the plains, which weren’t very flat, for 9km. The clouds lifted as we walked. We got back to the jeep and then had an hour’s drive back to the hotel.

At the hotel the manager was disgruntled because we left before he gave us breakfast (he wasn’t around when he said he would be) so we sat and ate our breakfast then.

We the did some laundry and had a shower before going for a walk around town.

In the evening we walked down to the food court for dinner, finally a Sri Lankan meal! Then, back up the hill for bed.Read more
