• Lake Akan to Wakkanai

    We got up early and had breakfast before checking out and heading north across Hokkaido. It was raining and the toy car wasn’t a great drive in the rain. Fortunately the roads weren’t too busy due to the remoteness of the destination.

    After several hours of driving we reached Cape Soya, the northern most point of Japan. We got out of the car for photos and it was freezing, even with all the warm clothes on.

    We bought some souvenirs and drove up the hill to look at some memorials before heading towards Wakkanai.

    In Wakkanai we found the hotel and checked in. I then went for a walk around town and bought some supplies for dinner and lunch as it was pretty quiet.

    After some lunch in the hotel room we went for a walk under the sea wall and saw the deer. It was cold 🥶.

    In the evening we sat and looked out across the ocean towards Russia and had dinner.
