• Uncle Karl…our wonderfully crazy, ecce…

    June 22, 2024 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 29 °C

Last night in NY and an enjoyable farewell from Uncle Karl.
We met at Astor Place and he had given me clear instructions on how to get there… please see attached text message… but for some reason I interpreted our meeting place as to have black arches which I obviously could not find.
Eventually we found him where he told me to meet him a big black cube and donated by an anonymous person… I wonder why. We walked around East and West Village a very eclectic and bohemian area of NY.
We went to the Donut Pub that is opened 2; hours and a favourite to Uncle Karl.
We jumped in his little red fiat that represented a well driven dodgem car to track our way over the Williamsburg Bridge towards Brooklyn to drive back over the Brooklyn bridge.
Dinner plans to the only Hungarian restaurant in NY went out the door as 19 kilometres of traffic took us over 2.5 hours… and I was the map interpreter which thankfully when we took the wrong term Uncle blamed google maps not me the one that struggles to understand directions. 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️.
Ava sat in the back laughing as she believed the two of us were ‘driving Miss Daisy!’
We visited Brooklyn and drove through the most diverse home to one of the largest Orthodox Jewish communities outside Israel, with one of the largest concentrations of Jews in the United States. With Orthodox and Haredi families having an average of 6.72 children. Incredibly culturally significant and amazing community.
Ava and I jumped out of the car to view the amazing Manhattan Skyline!
Following this we went back to west Village and enjoyed Uncles favourite Japanese restaurant.
Thank you Uncle Karl it was so great learning about our Bardosh family the Jewish side… I will hold our time together so close to my heart.
I’ll have to add extra pages for the pics…
