Machu Picchu

Today was another early early start with a 4am brekkie. We had decided to walk the 20 mins to the entrance then the 2000 steps up to Machu Picchu. It was very humid, hot, sweaty and a little rainy. There were lots of doggies along the way and 2 had a bit of a scuffle. Then we made it to Machu Picchu just as the first busses of people were arriving. We had circuit 2 which took us through the ruins. We had to wait for some clouds to pass before we could see anything. Then we went up Huayna Picchu mountain, which involved lots of small steps on our hands and knees. A dog we called Wayne showed us the way. The views were worth it (in-between clouds). Then we trudged back down the 2000 steps to Agua Callentias for a well deserved burger lunch. We luckily avoided more awkward tip exchanges. Then we caught the vistadome train which had some dancing and modelling. We then caught a scary bus back to Cusco for some dinner and bed.Read more
