We went to Universal Studios!! . We saw Harry Potter town, Simpson world, Jurassic Park, transformers, minions, the Mummy and a studio tour. • Six Flags 🎢

    September 19, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

"Is this your first time at 6 flags? 🕹 now it is" Spent the day riding roller coasters. The park was empty so we had free reign. Top highlights were Tatsu, wonder woman and full throttle. We rode them all until we felt a bit sick 🤢. Also rode the very first loop-de-loop and the steepest loop-de-loop. In the photos you can see the lovely progression of my hair after all the rides. I then walked the streets of Santa Monica and got a haircut (very knotted) while Jamesy worked. Went to dinner and had the best burgers at The Counter.Read more

  • Central Perk

    September 21, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

First day in New York!! We spent the whole day strolling around Central Park. We saw turtles in the pond, had a yukky coffee at the park Cafe, saw the Shakespeare stage and sat on the steps of the MET (just like in Gossip Girl). We got very lost using the map (James was convinced it was not to scale). We racked up over 20k in steps. We then had a early dinner at a diner before going back home to get ready for Broadway!!! We saw the Book of Mormon and it was very funny. 😁 spent lots of money on a sippy cup and some twizzlers. After the show we had a walk through the amazing Times Square. When we got home we saw a showing of over the hedge with the following cast; 1x groundhog, 1x raccoon and 4 x skunks.

We then went to little Italy where there was an Italian Festival happening with lots of yummy street foods. Then we strolled through the very trendy Soho. James also got to get his much awaited Knish (est 1910). We walked the Brooklyn Bridge at sunset and took lots of photos. It was then time to say goodbye to Celine so she can go back to Yale. James and I then went to Bring Me the Horizon where there was lots of head banging and black clothing. To finish off we went to the infamous Katz and got the best pastrami sandwich in the world. By then it was midnight and it took 2 hours to get nowhere and we gave up and got an uber home.Read more

    September 25, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 35 °C

Flight from NYC to Vegas!! After an uber mishap we were on a flight to Vegas. We picked up our car for the week and drove to our accommodation at the Excalibar. We walked the strip in search of a laundromat and failed miserably. We visted a few casinos and watched the water show. After having some dinner we went back to the hotel. We had every intention to gamble all our money but instead we fell straight to sleep.Read more

  • Grand Canyon

    September 26, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 19 °C

We woke up early (James was not happy) to start our trip to the grand Canyon. We had a backseat washingline for all our handwashed clothes. First stop was the impressive Hoover Dam. We then went to route 66 where we ate at the Roadkill Cafe. Next stop was the verryyy impressive Grand Canyon. Where we walked the southern rim and saw some very old rocks. What I thought was going to be a 4 hour trip turned into 10. We finally made it to Zion national park where we are sleeping under the stars and can have some well deserved rest.Read more

  • Zion

    September 27, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 18 °C

An early start with a grumpy James. We left our beautiful tent to head into Zion national park. The shuttle with Coughy Mcgee, took us to the first stop. We got lost trying to find the walking track but saw a tarantula and some deers along the way. We chose the strenuous hike as we figured we had fresh legs. It was very strenuous. We zig zagged up the cliff to get a very beautiful view of the Canyon. We then did another walk to see the Emerald pools (cascades swamp was more impressive). We then headed to our cute motel (with wet floors) via the stunning scenic drive through the mountains. We waited in line for the best restaurant in town, the smokey cowboy. We racked up 30000 steps by the end of the day and fell straight to sleep.Read more

  • Bryce Canyon

    September 28, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 19 °C

We woke up early with a less grumpy James and headed into Bryce Canyon. After getting a bit lost we found the walking track and started our hike into the Canyon. We walked the sunset loop, Navajo and peekaboo loop and timed it perfectly for the 1pm storm rolling in. After a lot of walking we headed back to Vegas. We finalllyyy did our very smelly laundry at the local laundromat. We also had a very short experience in the casinos (black was not so lucky).Read more

  • Sequoia

    September 29, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 19 °C

On the road again with a long trip from Vegas to Sequoia. We stopped at Denny's and had some very fluffy pancakes. Then we listened to lots and lots of Hamish and Andy and the alphabet game to pass the time. After 6 hours we got to Sequoia National Park only to drive another 45mins up a beautiful windy road to get to the top of the mountain. We saw some amazing sequoia trees and the biggest tree in the world. We then climbed Moro rock to get a view of the national park.Read more

  • On the road again

    September 30, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 27 °C

Today we drove Sequoia to Yosemite. We had a small sleep in and packed our things to get on the road again. We made it to yosemite only to find out that we were not allowed in. We tracked back to the yosemite train station and saw an old steam train and gold panning. James then took us on the longer scenic route option to get to our tent accommodation. Felt like we were driving foreverrr. We got lost trying to find our accommodation and drove through a paddock. We had a salad dinner and toasted marshmallows. Spent the night watching the stars, drinking beers/seltzer and playing cards.Read more

  • Yosemite

    October 1, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 20 °C

Woke up early again for Yosemite National Park. We had a very light stroll via the lower Falls trail and saw no yogis. We then did a more strenuous path up to see 2 waterfalls. We had our packed lunch that was nearly not enough to get us to the top of the mountain. We finally made it to the top in a very sweaty heap. We then started our decent and I was labelled Ms Slips alot as my shoes were not cut out for the smooth granite. We were exhausted as we drove back to our home. We had a BBQ chicken dinner and showered with a very cold hose in a bucket. Yogis yet to be seen 😪.Read more

  • Baseball

    October 2, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 18 °C

We drove from Yosemite to San Fran our last long haul drive. We got lost again making many wrong turns on our way to drop off our hire care ( you need a Costco membership for fuel apparently). We then went to see the baseball at Oracle Park with ocean views, an iconic organ and a mascot seal (even though the team were giants). The people in front of us were laughing at my interpretation/observations of the game and very kindly assisted in clarifying the rules. We very nearly caught the foul balls. We had the most expensive/gross hotdog on earth. We then went out for a very yummy Thai dinner and drinks.Read more

  • San Francisco - Seals

    October 3, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 23 °C

Today we walked to pier 39 to see some seals and explore the cute shops. We had a biscoff iced coffee and got to try the infamous in-n-out burgers. We then accidentally caught the cable car to start our trek to the 49ers stadium. The Stadium was massiveeee and everyone was wearing red (i was not aware of the dress code) . The 49ers beat the rams and the crowd was very entertaining and passionate. We saw all the tailgaters and fireworks (very concerning sound in America 🥴) we then packed in like sardines on the train back home.Read more

  • Alcatraz

    October 4, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 16 °C

Today we started with some shopping. Little did we know that all the shops opened at 11 or 12 and we were very early. We found a cafe and had some breekie to kill time. We then were very unsuccessful shopping as it was so expensive. We then went to a vintage shop in a bit of a dodgy area. We caught the light rail to see the very underwhelming Painted Ladies (james was not impressed). After this the clouds subsided and we went to the golden gate bridge. Although it was still foggy. Next we went to start our night tour at Alcatraz. It was really cool and we heard all the stories about the escapes. The boat ride was very cold.Read more

  • Hawaiiii

    October 5, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 28 °C

We got up verryy early again to catch our flight to Hawaii. We landed and found our accommodation. I forgot to be organised and we had a little key mishap. It was now my turn to be a little tired and hangry. We walked the beach and finally found something to eat. We also did some laundry and it was a big effort to find enough quarters. We then went for a dip and James was mean and put sand in my pants 😡😡 (did not help curb the grumpiness). We then met up with all the wedding crew and went out for a lovely dinner and drinks.Read more

  • Turtle Bay

    October 6, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 27 °C

After a not so successful sleep in (due to jet lag) we shared a banana and some frosty flakes for brekkie. We then started our journey to Hanouma Bay in an uber only to find out that you need a reservation to go and it was all booked out. Our uber driver switched course and was telling us about all the lovely destinations to go to and how the best way to get around is via a car. We switched courses again and he took us to his hire car. We then had the freedom to drive to shark Bay where we did some snorkelling and hurt our feet climbing over the rocks. We saw no sharks but lots of fishies. We then went to turtle Bay where we saw no turtles 😞 but it was still really nice. Lots of snorkelling = lots of sunburn. We then got home and ready for dinner festivities. We waited for 3 hours to get into the cheesecake factory and by then we were starvinggg. We eventually ate and could not fit in anything else.Read more

    October 7, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 27 °C

Today I left the boys behind to play golf. With our trusty hired car me and we went to see the Blowhole. It didn't blow :( but it had a very lovely view. We then drove some more and found a nice beach. It had a very strong shore breakers and it was fun to watch people get swept away. Then we went to a new spot and had a lovely lunch at a cafe and a swim at the beach. We then rushed home for the free wine and cheese. I had an awkward encounter while dropping off the car who made comments about the very small amount of sand in the back 😳. I then caught up with James and Milky for dinner and drinks at maui brewery.Read more

Today the girls got their nails done. 💅 we then had a picnic at the beach to celebrate some birthdays. We had a lovely swim and played waboba. Then got all glammed up for a cocktail party where we had fun eating fancy food and drinking very sugary cocktails. All the scraps kicked on for a fun night out. I nearly picked up a guy, shame he was really weird. James came to the rescue after making eyes 👀.Read more

  • Wedding day

    October 9, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 27 °C

Today was the main event. We had a leisurely breakfast and glammed up. We then took the bus which broke down right in front of a local coffee farm making us including the groom late to the wedding!!!. We are not convinced that the bus company doesn't have a deal with this place as while we were waiting the wedding party ate and shopped. The wedding was very beautiful under an amazing tree with peacocks and roosters. We took many photos and danced the night away with the live band. There was a very interesting bus ride home and kick ons at a bar. To finish off James and I were the very last to be served at Maccas.Read more
