    February 13, 2018 in Laos

After three buses and 24 hours of traveling we arrived in Vang Vieng in Laos. It is a small town set beside a river in the mountains. Laos is less developed than Thailand so the roads were more bumpy, dusty and dirty. Having said that Laos had beautiful mountainous scenery so it was definitely worth visiting. While we were in Laos the Chinese New year was taking place so there was a lot of Chinese tourists around on a week holiday for the celebrations. There also was a few festivals going on in Vang Vieng for the new year celebrations so the town was busy with activities.

It was my birthday while we were in Vang Vieng so we went tubing with a group from our hostel. We rented a tube and floated down the river before stopping off at some river bars. It was very fun as we got to meet and chat to loads of people from different nationalities. I may have to start a tradition of exploring a new country each year on my birthday. We also went to a lagoon where there were we swam and used the swings to jump into the lagoon. This was more of a relaxing day than the day before but it still fun.

I did really enjoy Laos even though it wasn't as developed or clean as Thailand. If we had more time I would have liked to have visited other parts of Laos for a few days as we heard some places like Luang Prabang was even nicer than Vang Vieng however we have to go to country number three; Vietnam for more exploring.
