Bye Bye Kids 💔👩🏼‍🏫📚🎨

Hey Everyone welcome to day 52!🫶🏼

Today was such a wholesome day - my last day with the kids 💔. Got the bus to the school such a beautiful journey🌴. We arranged a full leaving party lesson for the kids. We did bracelet making with the beads I brought, the kids loved writing out their names with all the letters! 📿we did face painting, lots of butterfly🦋 and rainbow🌈 requests. Finished off the day with cookies and playing games!🍪 Kids loved it, was so sad saying goodbye to them, lots of hugs🤗.

Here’s my bracelet the kids helped me make! Also got my certificate as I’ve now completed my 3 weeks volunteering already! 🏆

Hey everyone it’s day 51 now!👋🏼

Woke up those still looking like a little piggy🐷 but headed to breakfast for a nice chilled morning. Decided to keep well out of the sun so lots of horizontal tik tok time in bed today😎.
Headed to lesson planning today with the other volunteers, this was a super quick session today as we just have one lesson to plan as school finishes on Wednesday this week (due to election and full moon)🌕. Fun fact, every full moon is a national bank holiday here in Sri Lanka🇱🇰 - Temped to move here. Brought my beads for bracelet making 📿 and practiced some face painting skills on my hand🌼.
Once lesson planning was over I had to film my leaving video💔.

Got back to the room and got ready for my last Taco Tuesday😭🌮, my second to last meal with all the girls👯‍♀️. Walked past this banana shop with red bananas which was pretty cool 🍌. Walked home via some shops on the way 🤭 ready for bed! Night xoxWeiterlesen

Morning everyone!! Oops a lil bit behind on the old blogs - I’ve been a busy gal 😎

Welcome to day 50!!!

Woke up and it was such a beautiful day I decided to have a quick brekkie and head to the beach 🌞 on my morning off before volunteering. This is the beach right by our guest house - so beautiful😍.

Obviously got persuaded to buy some lil gifts from the beach lady🎁😂. Headed back for lunch before soon realising that no suncream on the face was a bad move. Sun 1, Ellen 0. This was just the beginning of the redness 🍅. Nevertheless, headed to the school to teach our 6th graders for the afternoon. Headed back for soup for dins🍜 followed by film night with the girls. Things got a bit silly and took a turn when we were suddenly watching teen mums Austria 🇦🇹 😭. A funny evening to day the least!! This has got to be one of my favourite days! Sundays, Sunrises and Safaris🦩🍦🌅🎅🏼

Hey guys it’s day 49!! 👋🏼

Kickstarted the day at 5am🥱ready for sunrise safari ! Here’s us in the jeep watching the sunrise🌅. The drivers chosen footwear made me laugh…nice and safe!

Saw some incredible animals, flamingoes, toucans, crocodiles and loads of elephants! 🐘🦩🐊
Had a break from our 5 hour safari with breakfast such an incredible view, we are so lucky🫶🏼.

Got back to our hotel for lunch… more lentil daal with our hands👋🏼. Waved goodbye to our luxurious room for the night and hopped back in the bus for a ride back to Unawatuna.

Got back to fund my bunk bed had been replaced with a huge double bed - I’m not complaining😁. There was a festival in the temple near our house over the weekend, look how pretty our walk to dinner was 🕯. Had dinner followed by a trip to the ice cream parlour🍦.

Finished the day with a tour round Jules and Wenkas prison of a room😂 and a group film sesh (Holidate) to get us in the Christmas sprint🎄🎅🏼. What a great day! 💛Weiterlesen

A Holiday on Holiday! 🎋🐍🐸🐛

Hello everyone day 48 and that means…it’s holiday on holiday time! 🏝

Early start at 5am today, we headed off on our travels via bus to the rainforest🎋

Stopped off to this incredible breakfast spot for a traditional Sri Lankan breakfast🥖☕️. Headed back into the bus and continued our drive to the rainforest. We arrived and had to get our feet covered with salt to keep the leeches away!!🧂

Started our treck through the jungle before finishing the hike through the water to get to our final destination at the waterfall! 🌴

Got back to our boujee room and said hi to our neighbours! 👋🏼

It was a bit of a gloomy rainy afternoon ☔️so we got the jeeps for a little drive around as sunset safari wasn’t possible🥲. Did manage to have to have a peek at some elephants though! 🐘

Stopped via the liquor store and found some 8.8% ciders - hello 🍎😍🍻. Had a quick shower then the maintenance man had to come over the shower wouldn’t turn off🚿😭.

Finished the day with a meal to remember - no cutlery!! 🍽

Banana Pancakes, Black Tea and Blessings

Morning guys it’s day 47👋🏼

This has got to be my favourite days teaching so far! 👩🏼‍🏫

Woke up early and headed to breakfast, pancakes today🥞🍌! Got in our tuk tuk and headed to the monastery. Here are some pictures of the classroom we taught in!

We taught some young monks about colours, shapes, food, did some writing exercises and quizzed them on classroom objects🖊. Once the lesson came to an end, they decided to teach us! They took us around the temples and blessed us😇, so incredible. Here are the refreshments they made us, with black tea 🥹☕️.

Headed back to our house and squeezed in a bit of sunbathing obvi👙. Got interrupted by our friend killing and eating a scorpion🦎🦂.

Had lunch before heading to school to teach the third graders, before we knew it it was time to go! This was the view from our room tonignt🌅. Had some veggie wraps for dinner before a call with Evie girl🤙.

Morning everyone it’s day 46 can you believe it! 🫶🏼

Started the day with a walk to the post office to send some post cards! 💌 Definately the most authentic post office I’ve ever been to!

Walked for the road for a quick iced coffee🥤then continued my jam packed day of running 2 errands(🤣) with getting some cash out of the machine for my trip at the weekend. Was feeling pretty loaded with all this cash 🤑🤑🤑 (can’t lie it looks far more than what it was worth😭) . Walked back to the house for some more curry - whos shocked🫢🥘!

Went to the school this arvo, to look after the third graders, they are soooo cute🥹. I was conducting the end of year reading assessments with all the kids📖, finished the day with a game of grab the pencil✏️, so fun. Went past this railway crossing on the way home, how picturesque. Hi Everyone it’s day 45! 👋🏼

Started the day with some brekkie, look at the view from our room today😍, living the dream.

Lovely relaxed morning before heading to the school in the afternoon for lessons about the human body, seasons and weather🌤. Who likes my story I wrote for the kids about a trip to the zoo?? 🤣📚📖.

Came home to a glorious sunset, followed by a wholesome dinner.🍉

Hey Everyone, happy Tuesday 👋🏼

Tuesday only means one thing around here…Taco Tuesday🌮🌮🌮.

Woke up and headed to beakfast, scrambled eggs today🍳. Got into my bikini for some serious sunbathing👙😎 by the pool. Whipped out the sudoku book.

Had lunch then headed to our teaching planning session (we have no lessons on Tuesdays) . Here is us making worksheets for the kids. Put my feet up for a quick chill on the balcony (it’s a hard life here🤣), before getting into my yoga gear🧘‍♀️.

Headed to my rooftop yoga class before quick shower and change for Taco Tuesday baby🌮. Headed with the girls to The Hideaway restaurant, tacos here are unreal. I had three this week, here’s what the post food food baby was looking like!🤰

Morning everyone! It’s day 43👋🏼

Started the day hand washing lots of my clothes🧽. Followed by a very yellow breakfast ⭐️🌝🌻🐝. Wrote my postcards for the famo (spoiler alert!)🖍. Headed to the school for reading assessments of grade 6 - kids did so well🥹📖.
