Day 1 - Travel to Fes

    September 3, 2023 in Morocco ⋅ ☁️ 25 °C

    Start of our trip!
Took the plane, 30 min delay at departure but for the rest very well. When arriving in Fes, mom's patience was tested for the first time while we were waiting eternally at the passport control. Eventually (after 45 min) we took a taxi to the lovely Riad Norma in the Medina of Fes. Really kind people, and we had dinner in the riad next to us. There mom's patience was tested a second time today, because the food took quite some time to be prepared. Luckily that meant some exceptional quality tajine with mint tea! Now time to go to sleep and recharge for tomorrow :)Read more

  • Meknes

    September 5, 2023 in Morocco ⋅ ☁️ 26 °C

Nice city with a lot of life but not too much people. Beautiful walls! We visited the mausoleum with a lot of mosaics, unfortunately the other main monuments of the city were under construction...

  • The desert!

    September 7, 2023 in Morocco ⋅ ☁️ 26 °C

Today we woke up early to have a massive breakfast with all kinds of moroccan treats (including date syrup!). After this, a guide took us in his jeep and off we went into the desert. We had some nice views of the dunes and were recieved by some Berber people in their impressive tent made from goat and camel hair. We saw an old lead mine and visited a spot with quite some fossiles. We also had a little stop in the 'music town' with people originary from Mali and Sudan. We were invited to a house where the 'sans pigeons' were performing some music, and we danced with the host :) We came back to the hotel, had lunch and nap time (it was way too hot to do anything). In the beginning of the evening we went for a little camel ride into the dunes, to spot the sunset. Unfortunately it was super cloudy, but we still had a good time! Just when we came back, it started to rain and there was a lot of wind. We quickly went to our rooms and witnessed a sandstorm with rain! Nothing bad luckily, so we could rest from a beautiful day!Read more

  • Day 6: Todra gorges and Dades valley

    September 8, 2023 in Morocco ⋅ 🌬 31 °C

We started the day by a 3-hour car ride in the direction of Ouarzazate. Beautiful landscapes along the way and we had lunch in a cosy road restaurant. Quickly after lunch we took a short walk through the Todra Gorge, an impressive Canyon with still a river running through it. Afterwards we went to the Dades Valley, aka the rose valley. Unfortunately, no roses for us... (not the right time of the year). We proceeded to ride through Ouarzazate and saw some famous film studios (don't worry, we will visit the town on sunday). We finally arrived then at Tigminou guest houses, with a super friendly host (Johanna) and lovely little houses! Had dinner in a really nice place and had the best tagine so far in Morocco (egg and kefta).Read more
