    We were planning to go over Arthurs Pass to the West Coast, but reviewing future weather forecasts, we realised we needed to bring our Milford Sound trip forward. So we are speeding down to Te Anua over 3 days. We left Rakaia Gorge in rain and eventually drove into sunshine. Arrived at Mount Cook visitor area after a beautiful drive up Lake Pukaki. As we were only going to be here once, we decided to do the Hooker Valley walk - good decision. The weather just got better, and initially, most of Mount Cook was obscured by cloud. Then suddenly it all cleared and we became obsessed with the mountain. An emotional experience I was quite tearful. Arrived late into camp at Lake Tekapo and made quick pasta and fish dish.
