Bay of Islands Day 1

Our early start from Uretiti gave us a full day in the Bay of Islands. We visited the Treaty Grounds at Waitangi. A well organised and informative tour. There are so many views and interpretations on the treaty and how it has helped New Zealand people come together. At least they are talking and not fighting. After settling into our campsite, we took the ferry to Russell ( previously called the Hell hole of the South Pacific by Charles Darwin). It is genteel now, and we had a memorable lovely meal at the Duke of Marlborough Tavern.
