    Yellowstone - Storm point

    September 4, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 24 °C

It's still day 1 of our time in Yellowstone!

Lunch stop at Yellowstone lake with a view to Elephant Back Mountain. Not that it's easily recognisable as the back of an 🐘

Driving to the next trail head we saw our first Bison standing on the side of the road enjoying the sunshine.

Hiking Storm Point Trail in the afternoon.
This trail begins in the open meadows overlooking Indian Pond and Yellowstone Lake. While walking along Indian Pond we saw another Bison resting in the shore.
The trail continues through the trees and out to scenic, wind-swept Storm Point. And oh boy, it was windy. Hats had to be held in our hands.
Following the shoreline to the west, the trail eventually loops back through the lodgepole forest and returns to Indian Pond.

Driving through Haydon Valley on the way to our lodge in Canyon village we saw a big herd of Bison feeding in the meadow of Yellowstone River.
