    Yellowstone - Beaver Ponds Trail

    September 6, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 29 °C

It's already day 3 - where has the time gone?

Today we explore some of the north of the park and head out on the Beaver Ponds Trail.

It's a 5 mile loop walk through a variety of animal habitats. The Beaver Ponds are actually outside of the park in Montana. Another state to add to our list 😉

We were all hopeful to catch some elk, bear, pronghorn and deer. We saw lots of evidence such as zones where animals bedded down for the night and some bear poo but sadly none of the animals themselves.

It was the hottest day so far and we had a rather a hot and long slog back to Mammoth through Sagebrush with no animal sightings to take our mind off.

But still, the scenery is just stunning.

    One little titbit ..
👆Montana's Nickname is 'Big Sky Country' or 'Treasure State'.
👉 Montana's large gold and silver mines gave ruse to its nickname, the Treasure State
👉 “Big Sky Country” is a very recent addition of nickname and is a reference to the unobstructed skyline in the state that seems to overwhelm the landscape at times.
