Good Friday in Quito

We spent Good Friday in Quito watching the Procession of Jesus of Great Power in the Historic Centre. This involves men and women dressing in purple gowns and walking for 3 hours to repent for their sins. We were told that their sins could be anything from swearing or stealing, to more serious crimes like murder. There were thousands of people taking part in the procession which was crazy to witness.

In the afternoon, we went to the Middle of the Earth Monument (which actually isn't the true middle of the earth but they didn't realize until after they built the monument).Leer más
