Ssssh..........

It wasn't too early in the morning when we left Kaikoura for our journey back to Christchurch, but we still felt we had to be quiet leaving town for fear of waking the local residents apart from of-course the early birds; Oystercatchers and white-faced Heron, oh! and of course, the young pups!!. We drove back the same route as we had arrived up and down windy mountain roads, only this time the drive was far nicer in the blazing sunshine. About halfway, we stopped for a coffee ☕️ and cake 🧁 break (well coffee ☕️ and pie 🥧 break for me) in a small town called Cheviot. Arriving back in Christchurch, we checked back into our 1st hotel 🏨 here; Rydges Latimer, after dropping all our luggage 🧳 off, I returned the car 🚗 to the rental company and my driving in New Zealand was complete with a total of 1,528 km or or 955 miles driven during our 17 days of car hire.Read more
