12th century Iglesia de San Estaban

    June 27, 2018 in Spain ⋅ ⛅ 28 °C

We continue to be a slow group on the camino, which I completely enjoy because of our unique experiences. This afternoon at San Esteban church an elderly nun noticed us walking to the church just at the closing time (2pm) and graciously offered to stay open a bit longer for us. We enjoyed the interior. Eric and Rachel walked to the bell tower to ring the bell from 1377. We even for our stamp. As I was reading some prayers on the cool stone bench at the entrance she came to lock the church. She commented on the weight of the 13century key and passed it to me and Rachel to feel the weight. Definitely perks to being in the slow group, if only we could catch up to the guy with a donkey..Read more
