    Night 2

    June 22, 2017 in the United States ⋅ 🌧 23 °C

I set up camp tonight much earlier than I originally intended. I paddled much slower today to try to stretch it out. I'm not used to paddling this little. I don't even feel like I've had a workout. It poured rain much of the time I was on the water but my spray skirt and rain jacket kept me dry. The views on this river are indescribable. There are cliffs soaring high over the water and more wildlife than you can shake a stick at. I've pulled my kayak high above the water in case the river does rise tonight and camp is a good 7-8' above the water line. The river is forecast to rise 3' Friday night so I'm pretty sure I'm ok tonight. Tomorrow I'll be very particular about my campsite.Read more
