Summer 2022

We have wanted to visit this smaller and lesser known island since our first visit to the Balearics (Mallorca) back in 1998! A last minute Ryan Air flight fit the bill and we set off on a 4-day adventure.

Click/Rent is a new rental car agency and we had high hopes that name implied function. Not so. The courtesy van that arrived in a flurry amongst 25+ expectant travelers only collected the “registered drivers” (cut to mass confusion and a quick exit). All “acompañantes” we’re left standing around scratching their head and quickly gesturing “meet me here” or “idk” as the van peeled off again! Had we not lived here in Spain and spoken the language we might have balked at being separated this way (there was no explanation on how or when we would reconnect.)

When we were finally reunited a half hour later Paul, having been second off the van, was *still* processing paperwork. We propose a new moniker!

Unfortunately, this was only the beginning of a bumpy start. Last to check-in to our boutique hotel in Cuitadella old town, we were given the dregs in the form of a modern but moldy basement cave of a room. Sarah’s allergies to mold spores are notorious so this wasn’t an option.

While waiting for a solution, we had an early dinner along the canal (first photo). Paul’s lamb confirmed the restaurant’s reputation (Sarah’s note-to-self: only order white asparagus when it’s in season, the jarred stuff just doesn’t cut it.)

With luck and some gentle persuasion we were finally assured a refund for the night and a room inland at Hotel Rural Movedra Nou (second photo at breakfast the next morning).

In a classic Lemons to Lemonade- we were glad fate intervened; this was an absolutely lovely spot!Baca lagi
