• Full day in Florence

    August 17, 2025 in Italy ⋅ ⛅ 35 °C

We kicked off our day in the best way possible with a homemade breakfast of bacon and eggs. It was just what we needed before a big day ahead of us.

Our first stop of the day was the Duomo and it is truely stunning. We have seen so many amazing buildings during our travel so far but this was definitely something different. The marble facade and all of the amazing colours just makes it look beautiful!

After taking in some of the surrounding monuments the fun part started, leather shopping!! My current handbag had started to give out on me so what better place to pick up a new handbag then in Florence. Florence is famous for its Italian leather so I was super excited! After looking through multiple shops, I found the perfect one and guess what Mum - it’s pick pocket safe woohoo! What was even cooler then just buying the handbag was that you could get free embossing done too so I had my initials embossed and it is honestly just perfect! A little peoce of Florence I can carry with me for years to come!

Later in the afternoon we met up with some friends from the hostel at a little wine shop we stumbled upon. It was so nice taking a break in the shade and hearing all about other travellers travels. We sat for an hour or so before we moved on. With a couple of hours to spare before our evening plans we decided to browse through the good stores near the Ponte Vecchio. I had high expectations for this but honestly I thought the gold looked cheap and some of it not even real.

Then came the grand finale, our cooking class!

Honestly it was one of the best experiences we have had on this trip so far! We got to make three different types of pasta from scratch may I add which was then paired with three different types of sauces! The wine was free flowing too so we definitely indulged in that! We made friends with an English family who were just hilarious! The room was filled with laughter and overall we just had the best time! Once the cooking class was over we didn’t want the night to end, so our new made friends and us continued the night at a local pub! We lost track of time and soon enough it was 2am and was time to head back to the hostel.

What a great day in Florence!
