• Travelling to Turkey - Part 2

    18. september 2025, Tyrkiet ⋅ 🌙 18 °C

If you haven’t read my Part 1 yet make sure you go and do that so this part makes sense.

Hopefully the two photos I left you on my last post were enough clues for you to figure out what our sleeping logistics came to in the end…… yip, that’s right, sleeping in Athens Airport.

When we arranged this a couple of weeks ago. It really didn’t sound too bad. Oh, how I wish future me could tell past me what a terrible idea that was. Firstly, we wernt able to check in our bags until the morning which meant I was paranoid that someone would run off with our bags when we were sleeping so I made us take shifts with one person sleeping and the other guarding our bags. Secondly, airport chairs only just scrape through before comfortable enough to sit on them for a short while let alone sleep on them for 5 hours…

It was honestly like watching paint dry. Time was going so slow, my body felt like it was going to break and we were getting soooo tired. I just know Mum and Dad are thinking “poor Jayde” right now because if you ask them - Kayla and tired do not mix well together but I won’t admit that. I was an angel. 😇

We got some Greek chocolate to lift the mood which sorry Whittaker’s, was absolutely delicious before finally being able to board our plane to Turkey! It was a quick hour flight, which felt like 5 minutes since I finally managed to get some sleep! We collected our bags and then caught the bus to where we were staying. Thankfully our Airbnb let us check in as soon as we arrived at 10am which meant we were heading straight to bed to finally get some sleep.

We both woke around 5pm and headed to the supermarket to get some supplies for dinner. Our accomodation is right next door to the Galata Tower so we caught a quick glimpse. We had a quick but delicious chicken rice bowl for dinner, had showers and a hot cup of tea, because when in Turkey right?? And now we are back in bed ready for a much needed good nights sleep!

A very tiring last two days to say the least but worth it for this next week in Turkey! 🇹🇷
