• Our 12th Country - Albania!!

    8. oktober 2025, Albanien ⋅ 🌙 13 °C

Today was another big one following up from yesterday’s travel marathon, we were feeling the travel fatigue. But after a bit of a slow start we both called home to catch up with family, which always makes things feel a bit more grounded. It was a nice way to ease into what would turn into another eventful day.

Today’s big mission? To get ourselves to Albania our 12th country! We quickly packed up our things, grabbed a quick breakfast at the little mini market next door (nothing fancy, but when you're on the go, it does the job), and set off for the public bus.

As we rolled through Corfu on our way to the port, we couldn’t help but notice how absolutely stunning the island is. So full of life, with classic colourful buildings and lush landscapes everywhere. It was a bit of a bummer that we couldn't stay longer, but hey, there’s always next time. After a 15 minute walk from the bus stop, we finally arrived at the port, ready to board our ferry to Albania.

And that ferry… oh boy. It was only an hour long trip, but it felt like a lifetime. The sea was wild. It was so rough that at one point, we were tipping sideways, and I swear you could see the water at the windows. I spent most of the journey with my eyes shut, clutching Jayde’s arm and practicing deep breathing to avoid the inevitable seasickness. Luckily, it was a short ride, and we made it to Albania in one piece.

Once we arrived, we found a cozy little cafe and treated ourselves to a crepe for lunch. Then it was time to grab our rental car for the week, which turned out to be a bit of a hassle. Turns out, not having a credit card isn’t the most convenient thing when renting a car, but we managed to figure it out. And now we’re the proud, and I mean very proud, owners of a little Fiat Panda for the week. Well, I’m proud… Jayde maybe not so much I think the size hurts his ego a little but hey, it’ll get us where we need to go!

We made a quick stop at the supermarket to pick up a few essentials, then headed to our apartment in Sarande, where we’re staying for the next three nights. We are off on a week long road trip along Albania’s coast, and we can’t wait to see what this beautiful country has in store.

After a chill night of cooking dinner, doing some laundry, and watching a movie in bed, we’re both ready to hit the ground running tomorrow. Here’s to exploring more of Albania!

P.S sorry for the lack of photos today. It was a busy day sorting everything out!
