Picking up where we left off, we settled into our seats well, our row… for the 14 hour journey ahead. By the time we finally pushed back from the gate it was around 7:30pm, and not long after take off the cabin crew came around with the first round of drinks and dinner. Both Jayde and I chose the slow cooked beef, and honestly? It was surprisingly delicious for plane food.

After dinner, we put on a movie to help pass the time. By the time it wrapped up around 10:30pm, we were both more than ready to sleep. When we first flew over five months ago, we also lucked out with a whole row to ourselves and I made a little bed in the footwell in front of the seats. It worked so well back then that we decided to recreate it me on the bottom, Jayde up top.

And once again… success! We both managed to get around six hours of solid sleep, which felt like a miracle.

We started waking up just as the second meal service was coming through the cabin. The choices were pasta or chicken, and both were actually quite nice. Eating always makes the flight feel faster, so by the time breakfast was over, we only had about two hours left. We freshened up, gathered our things, and got ready for landing.

Soon enough, we touched down in Tokyo at around 6:00pm. After disembarking, we breezed through customs, grabbed our bags, and hopped on a train straight to Shinjuku our home base for the next four days!

Our accommodation is so cute, right in the heart of the action, and from the moment we arrived we knew we were going to love Japan. Everything feels clean, efficient, and everyone we’ve interacted with has been friendly. We even got given little slippers we have to wear around the hotel and we leave our shoes in our own little cubby at the front door to change into when we go out!

After dropping our bags, we couldn’t resist going out for a quick explore. We wandered through the buzzing streets of Shinjuku and holy moly it is stimulation overload, the lights and people everywhere!! It feels like you are in a movie! We popped into 7-Eleven to try some viral snacks, and soaked in the atmosphere before deciding to call it a night.

Tomorrow is our first full day here and it’s going to be a big one. Stay tuned for our adventures tomorrow!
