ПутешественникLove that you are there. Forrester Pass was always one of my favourite gateways into the Sierra! And now you get Sierra lakes to swim in and smooth Sierra granite slabs to sleep on. Yay!

Ice axe at the ready. Have you needed to use it much? Or it's just in case you need to arrest yourself from a slide?
ПутешественникI've only used it once, on Mather Pass. I wanted something more sturdy than a trekking pole to lean on coming down. I didn't feel a slip was likely so not needed for a possible self-arrest/belay so far

ПутешественникCamping on smooth, glacier-polished, Sierra granite. Or possibly a nice bed of gravel. Both are super comfy!

I was working with old information. The 4:45pm ferry I was gunning for now leaves at 3:45pm. I missed it by 15 minutes.

ПутешественникSince you are up above timber-line, I think that’s a Ptarmigan. They are in the same family but grouse stay low. Ptarmigan feathers will go white before winter sets in.
