A-wander in Ennis

As is the case in most big cities, finding parking in Ennis was a challenge. We eventually found a car park and paid for two hours. When we left the Ennis Friary, we still had about 45 minutes left, so off we went for a stroll around town.

We checked out the free “Clare Museum,” where nothing much caught our interest. But our walk along the banks of the River Fergus took us to a corner where a sphere captured our attention. Known as the “Centurial Sphere” this piece of art marks the 100th anniversary of the Easter 1916 uprising. The text carved into the galvanized steel sphere is apparently from songs about County Clare and its cultural heritage.Read more
