Fitzroy Crossing - Broome / 430 km

Today we slept the last time in the car roof tent ⛺️. Will not miss this too much after three weeks! The last disassembling procedure can be seen in the short movie 🤠.

Before heading back 430 km to Broome we went on a boat trip through Geikie Gorge. The gorge developped while it was under the ocean many million years ago. The Fitzroy river is currently many meters below where it should usually be at this time. This can be seen very well by the color of the remaing reef. Usually the water level is about at the level where the rocks change to a dark color in May.

Not much to say.... No driving.., Just hanging around at the pool and in town ... Enjoying that there is no need to setup the bedroom on a car roof top in the dark...

Willie Creek - Barren Creek / 80 km

Before returning our 4WD Landcruiser which carried us safely over 4950 km in 17 days we went 40km up north for a visit at a local Pearl farm (Willie creek). Afterwards we did some more heavy 4WD tracks further up north to Barren Creek. Special feeling, being on a small sandy track in the bush with no mobile reception, no other cars and no extra wheel (still flat on the back-door).
Unfortunately no swimming at Barren creek because saltwater crocodiles inhabit the beaches and surroundings there.

Last day in Broome

Spent the last day learning more about the history of the town in the local town museum. It‘s a lot about Pearl industry, slavery of Aboriginals to dive for pearl shells, 2nd world war and cyclones which devastated the town multiple times in the last century.

Spotted the first delivered Royal Flying doctor service PC24 departing Broome in the afternoon.

Beautiful sunset at incredible cable beach in the evening.もっと詳しく

Bye bye Broome

Today flying back to Perth where we will arrive in the late afternoon.

While the family will stay with Annette‘s sister at their home in Perth, I will leave already tonight to the very south of Western Australia for a couple of days myself.もっと詳しく

Wave Rock - Torndirrup / 850 km

Two hours after arriving in Perth I left with Andys car eastwards towards Hyden. After a long drive I arrived in Hyden 330km east of Perth. Luckely I could ring somebody out to get a room for the night.

Before sunrise I went to the Wave rock and watched the sunrise lonely with no other tourists around 😊. Beautiful scenery and impressive rock!

After getting a long black at the gas station I left for another 400 km to Albany with no stop 🙈. Nice little town on the south coast with a rough ocean and nice cliffs.

Ended up in Dennark which is a small nice village on the coast towards the west.もっと詳しく

Greens Pool - Cape Leeuwin / 400 km

Left Denmark early in the morning direction Margeret River. Another long drive first through beautiful forests with tall and thick trees along the street.

First stop at a beach called Greens pool. Some of the pictures explain where the name comes from. Beautiful small sandy beach behind some massiv wave breaking rocks. Right next to Greens pool are the Elephant rocks which really look like three Elephants standing side by side in the water of the South Ocean.

Next stop at the so called „Tree top walk“. A 600m long foot bridge which guides up to 40m above ground through the giant trees.

Before driving into Margaret River I made a small detour to Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse in the very south west of Western Australia.

Margeret river is well known for its Wineries. Unfortunately I still had to drive and skipped wine tasting.

Margaret River - Perth / 305 km

After a morning walk at Margaret river towncenter I went to Prevelly beach where the World Surf league currently helds a championship which is part of the World surf tour. The best surfers worlwide are in town. Unfortunately yesterday was an off day due to the surf conditions.

Instead of watching the surfers 🏄‍♂️ riding the waves I spent some time myself at very windy Gnarabup beach before driving back to Perth.

My short personal trip to the south ended here after another 1550km in less than 3 days 🙈. It was worth it for all I had seen (Wave rock, wild beaches, Greens pool, Tree top walk, Cape Leeuwin, beautiful forests, Wineries, Margaret River and more.

In the evening we went to an Indian Restaurant with Andy, Monique, Tonia and her partner Manon where we eat delicious Indian food.もっと詳しく

Perth - Singapore - Zurich

The last day has become truth and after 8 weeks we are getting ready for the long journey back home to Switzerland 🇨🇭.

During these 8 weeks we have seen so many beautiful and impressive places. All of which will be remembered for lifetime.

Thankful that everything went well and we made it safely back to Perth:
- 59 days
- 8900 km car driving (more than 8000 myself) 🚗
- 56 hours in planes ✈️
- 1 hour at the front seat 💺
- only 9 locations where we spent more than one night (mainly two nights in such case).
- did not count the number of white wine bottles and beer cans we killed... (let‘s say it had been a few)
