As I said before it was raining off and on, so as we stopped for lunch we were all a bit wet. We had ordered, as we had done yesterday a lunch bag from the hotel which consisted off two sandwiches, a banana,a tomato, and a hard boiled egg. The small village of Schlierbach was our lowest point today with around 240 m above see level. A very interesting village with a very interesting graveyard. Instead off head stones they have wooden crosses. This is a habit which was brought from Switzerland bei immigrants.En savoir plus

After to short but very steep up hill walks we reached the village off Lindenfels which is the end point for today. As we were good in the time we had a bit off time before the bus came to take us back to the Hotel. Some off us had a look at the castle others, like myself went to the ice cafe for a coffee and an ice cream. In the mean time the sun had disappeared and it was getting a bit coldEn savoir plus

Reichenbach to Lindenfels

Well todays trip was once again a very nice hike through the woods and over fields. Today I thought it was not as difficult as yesterday but that is probably because the temperature were much lower today. We have covered 30km in two days and nearly 1000 m in height. Third day on the Nibelungen Steig

Once again the bus pickt us up at 09:00 after a very good breakfast and took us to Lindenfels where we stopped yesterday. Some of us went to the bakery to buy some food for the lunch break, the others had a lunch Paket from the Hotel. We started and walked up hill.En savoir plus

This is the view off the town Lindenfels after a few minutes. The rest of the way went along green paths through the forest and at one point we could watch the forest harvester doing it’s work before we disappeared back into the forest.En savoir plus

The weather today was not to warm and not to cold and it stayed dry although the weather forecast had said that it would rain sometime during the day. Our route now took us alone the old border between two old countys which no longer exist and we cold see the border stones left and right from us. Well we did not see many stones as this part off the tour was a very steep uphill walk.En savoir plus

The first picture is the Walburgis chapel from the other side of The Valley. The second picture is the chapel after another very steep uphill walk. As we reached the chapel it was time for lunch and a wee break. A German mythical story is the Nibelungen Saga an it takes place in this part of the country. Our guide has read us a small part from the story every evening after Dinner. As we we sitting behind the chapel she took our her book and read us a third chapter the place and setting was just great.En savoir plus

Lindenfels to Grasellenbach

Well the Chapel was the highest point for to day and after that it was all the way down hill and back to Grasellenbach where our hotel is. We made a small stop for a bit off cake and coffee, which was good for the hard worked body. After that it was a short walk back into the village.
Well day three is behind us and I am still feeling good and every day I discover muscle that thought I no longer had. Today we covered 14,53 km got to a height of 543 m above see level and it took us 4 hrs 39 min to do it.
Tomorrow we change Hotels, we’ll tomorrow is an other day. And another storyEn savoir plus

Fourth day on the Nibelungen Steig

Today is bit complicated. The tour finishes in Burgstadt but that is not so easy as it sounds.
First off all we change hotels today and normally there is a transfer for our luggage, but we decided to use our own car.
Pack the car and drive to Amorbach where we park the car and meet the rest then a 4 hr hike to Miltenberg. We travel by train back to Amorbach and the rest hike to Burgstadt where our hotel is. We then take the cat to Burgstadt and are all happily united.
