Let loose in Sofia

Having left the guide for some free time, we walked to a covered market which was rather closed, so we cut across to the city's hot springs. And they really were hot! Apparently known for their healing properties, people were filling up huge bottles of water from them. We then headed to the highly recommended archaeological museum, which had superb exhibits found across Bulgaria with fantastic English commentary. The Treasure Room housed some wonderful exhibits of jewellery and gold, and the cavernous main hall had huge statues and frescos alongside smaller exhibits. Mum and Kev both made a scene - one leaving the museum by accident and the other setting off an alarm!

We walked back towards the main cathedral to grab some food and a drink before heading home. Back on the yellow brick road, we had an absolutely superb burger stop at Boom Burgers & Booze, before heading to the rooftop bar in Sense Hotel next door overlooking the whole of the city in the beautiful late afternoon sunshine.
