Liège

Off to Antwerp today with a stop in Liège. We had to change here anyway, so decided to luggage store our kit and go for a wander. It was overcast and grey when we arrived and walked up the river and into the town. We passed the Cathedral and the Palace of the Prince-Bishops before reaching Montagne be Bueren - 374 steps up to the citadel...ouch. At the top, what remains of the citadel (that wasn't demolished to build a hospital) is lovely to walk around and the views of the city were fab...but we needed a minute to recover before we could enjoy any of that! We passed St Barthelemy's and the Grand Curtais museum before heading back to the Cathedral Square for a waffle, a beer and a quick wander in the cathedral itself.
