Back in the port town of Kusadisi, our excursion ended with a visit to a Turkish carpet shop. Not necessarily what we'd have picked, but it was really interesting with a spinning and weaving demonstration, and explanation of the different blends. That said, whilst the prices of handmade silk carpets reflected the work involved, the costs of large carpets ran into the many, many thousands! One of the carpets shown apparently took four women three years to make, and the store acts as a cooperative. Back in time for lunch and out of the midday heat.Read more
