Heather GanttVibrant colors and flavors best describe this unassuming city. Often thought of as an unavoidable stop for travelers headed to Machu Picchu, Lima is a destination in its own right. One stop on our gourmet food tour, Restaurant Huaca Pucllana, was my favorite and exemplifies Lima by joining gastronomy and archeology. The restaurant overlooks the Huaca Pucllana, an 1800 year old adobe and clay pyramid. In pre-Columbian times, it served as an important ceremonial and administrative center for the Lima culture.
