• Day 11 - Gibraltar

    12 November 2024, Gibraltar ⋅ 🌬 18 °C

A cloudy start to day which after investigation I decided shorts but with a hoodie, which turned out to be the right decision. A tad fresh in the breeze and shade first thing but a glorious afternoon.

It wax a shorter than normal docking Gibraltar, we arrived at 7am but had to be back on board by 3pm. We have been here before so Sharon decided we’d walk to the cable cars, go up the rock and then go in the cave. The ship docked s little further out than last time so it was about a 25 minute walk up the town and probably the same again to the cable car station. There was quite a queue for the cable cars and at this point Sharon decided to see how long the cave tour was - err three hours, will include uneven ground, the requirement to crawl and the ability to climb a rope !! Needless to say that plan was scrapped. Quickly followed by the plan to go up the top of the rock as the queue was still another hour to go and we’d been there an hour or so already.

So we wandered back in on the very pretty and oldie worldie town. It wax extremely busy as there was another cruise ship in with ours. We did a bit of shopping, mainly cosmetics for the boss as things are much cheaper here than at home. We went for lunch in the square which was lovely. A steady walk back to the ship and we were up on deck having tea and cake by 3pm. By then the sun was shining and it was pleasantly warm.

Captains party tonight and we get an invite so we went along, very nice, lovely canapés a few free drinks. Nice to meet the senior officers. We then went and had dinner in the restaurant before deciding to go get in the hot tub on the open deck for an hour or so.
