A warm and sunny day. Breakfast in the hotel and then a long walk all the way along the riverside north to see the Shoes by the Danube a sculpture installation from 2005 created to memorialize the deaths of some 20,000 Jews in WW2 who were told to line up on the side of the river, remove their shoes (as they had value) and they were then shot and fell into the water. A very emotive artwork.
On our way there we stopped at the market hall, a vast space selling absolutely everything you can imagine, from sausages to shoes, handbags to honey.
Some of the buildings are beautiful with ornate roof tiles and art nouveau influences.
Another sushi lunch in a tiny cafe then the long walk back, pick up bags and head to the train station!
