    Day 1

    April 29, 2023 in Morocco ⋅ ☀️ 33 °C

Bienvenue à Marrakech / مرحبا بكم في مراكش!
After about 4 hours of sleep, 2 airplane meals and about 13 hours of travel we finally arrive in Marrakech. Our Riad is situated in the Medina, about a 10-15 minute walk from the famous Jemaa el-Fnaa. While it’s only about a one hour difference timewise, it’s at least a 20 degree Celsius difference in temperature and a lot drier and sunnier than it was when we took off in Berlin. 🏜️Read more

    Day 2

    April 30, 2023 in Morocco ⋅ ☀️ 31 °C

Started off the day with some traditional breakfast, including some amazing freshly pressed orange juice. 🍊 Followed by a walking tour to get to know the city and avoid getting lost in the souks. Abdul was the most amazing guide! First we explored the Bahia Palace and then we stopped by the Saadier Tombs. Afterwards we enjoyed some Thé à la menthe by the Jemaa el-Fnaa and had the most delicious dinner in the middle of the souks @Terrasse Bakchich, followed by a stunning sunset on the rooftop of our Riad. 🌆Read more

    Day 3

    May 1, 2023 in Morocco ⋅ ⛅ 30 °C

Started off the day with a cooking class, before we went on an adventure in the desert. 🏜️ The food was mediocre and so was the music, but the sunset over the sandy hills of the Agafay desert was far from mediocre. 🌄 After our descend the sky turned dark pretty quickly and we were able to see a stunning amount of stars. Absolutely magical. 🌌 After a bumpy ride through the desert we made it back to Marrakech and to the Jemaa el-Fna - that only ever REALLY comes to life during the night. The amount of people during the day was NOTHING compared to how busy it got during the night.Read more

    Day 4

    May 2, 2023 in Morocco ⋅ ☁️ 33 °C

We went to the Cascades d'Ozoud / Ouzoud waterfalls today. 🏞️ While the trip itself felt like a bit of a tourist scam and our so called "guide" ended up loosing half his group along the way, the waterfalls itself were quite spectacular. We went on a little boat ride too and ended up pretty much bathing in the waterfalls haha. 🛶 On the way back we encountered some monkeys including a mother with her cute little baby. 🐒 Ended the day with a delicious freshly pressed juice at Jemaa el-Fnaa. 😋🥤🍊🥭🍎Read more

    Aït-Ben-Haddou / آيت بن حدّو

    May 3, 2023 in Morocco ⋅ ☁️ 32 °C

After a quick lunch with views of Aït-Ben-Haddou - where we ate the most delicious fruit 🍊🍉 - we went on to visit the city from up close. We started climbing up the hill and stopped a long the way to get a presentation of an artist using a special painting technique. 🎨 He used indigo and saffron and such and held the pictures over an open flame to get them to change colors - quite fascinating. 🔥 It was very windy once we made it to the top but that didn’t prevent us from enjoying some amazing views. 🏞️🛕Read more

    Day 5

    May 3, 2023 in Morocco ⋅ ☁️ 23 °C

New day - new trip. 🚘 We started off day number four with a tour that was meant to last about 13 hours, so it was going to be a long and exciting day. We were picked up in a little van and one could tell that our guide was a DJ in his spare time because he immediately pulled out his phone and started entertaining the whole group. 🎶 Our first stop? The middle of nowhere. Or rather the middle of the road. 🏔️ Where we took some amazing pictures of the mountains in the distance. Next on the list a little rest stop along the road where we of course grabbed some thé à la menthe 🍵 and encountered the cutest little cat. 🐈‍⬛🫶🏼 Afterwards we stopped at Tizi n'Tischka - a viewpoint on the road through the Atlas Mountains between Ouarzazate and Marrakech - the views were stunning and so was the price we managed to get haggling over two allegedly hand crafter stone animals. 🫏🐈‍⬛ After another pit stop at a cafe / argan oil shop, where we got the second presentation during our trip - but this time at least at nice panorama point - we went on to drive to Aït-Ben-Haddou. And again - the views were stunning. Both from below as well as from above. We ended the day with a visit at Atlas film studios 🎞️ in Ouarzazate - where we allegedly saw a Porsche 🏎️ used for a James Bond movie - before we drove back to Marrakech and witnessed a beautiful sunset behind the mountains. 🏔️🌅Read more

    Marrakech Dream Ballooning 🎈

    May 4, 2023 in Morocco ⋅ ☁️ 16 °C

Time for one last surprise. I told my Mum to get up bright and early because our pick-up was supposed to happen around 05:35am in the morning. We walked through the dark and empty streets of Morocco 🌃 and were actually able to listen in on the first prayer of the day, taking place in the mosque right next to us. 🕌 Around half an hour later we arrived at the base. We were greeted with some - who‘d have thought - thé à la menthe and some cake. 🍵🍰 Soon they started preparing the balloons so I had to reveal our activity of the day. 🎈 We finally took off around 06:40am. Just in time to witness the sunrise. 🌄 The views were absolutely stunning! We were very lucky because out of all three balloons that took off at our base, ours was the one that went the highest and hovered in the best position because we had lots of pretty balloons in front of us to take pictures with. We stayed in the air for a good 45-50 minutes before our picture perfect landing. Our pilot did a better job than even most pilots on Ryanair lol.Read more

    Day 6

    May 4, 2023 in Morocco ⋅ ☁️ 31 °C

After an amazing start of the day with a ride in a hot air balloon 🎈 and some authentic Berber breakfast 🧇🥝 we went back to Marrakech to lose ourselves in the souks one last time. But before, we went to the Ensemble Artisanal Craft Complex to purchase the majority of our souvenirs and do some research on the prices to make sure the merchants in the souks wouldn’t rip us off. 💸 We went to a cute little wood shop with the most adorable merchant. We ended up purchasing a magic box and two matching bracelets. We even took a video of the merchant opening and closing our magic box to make sure we would be able to do so ourselves at home as well haha. We found some amazing paintings 🖼️ and stopped for some yummy ice cream 🍦 and some - who would’ve thought - thé à la menthe. 🍵 After strolling through Cyber Park - a little green oasis 🌴- in the bustling city - we grabbed some more sweets at La Patisserie des Princes 🍬 before we squeezed ourselves through the busy souks, where we encountered some insane, slightly megalomaniacal lamp merchants trying to sell us lamps for a whopping 1.500 MDH ~ about 140€. 😂 That’s when we decided to skip the mosaic lamp and headed back to our Riad - lots of souvenirs in our bags. 🛍️ We headed back to the airport and witnessed one last sunset. 🌆 Goodbye Morocco. Until next time. 👋🏼🇲🇦Read more
