Mother's day

Happy Mothers Day.
I am blessed to be able to spend it in Colombia with Sam Meadows and Harriet Barber.
We went on a tour of a coffee finca about 20 minutes from where we are staying. We got there in a Willy's Jeep, great for the twisty, turny bumpy road. We were given small baskets,which the pickers would use that hold 1kg if coffee beans. After an introduction on how the plants are grown we had to walk among the coffee plants and pick some beans. It's not harvest time so there weren't that many red or yellow ones.
We were shown each process- washing, peeling, drying and roasting of the beans. At the end we were given a demonstration of how to make a great cup of coffee and we had a small cup to try. I don't drink coffee but I did have a few sips. Everyone said it was very good.Leggi altro
