Can't say I expected to play in the snow this trip yet today I hiked up this active volcano in the snow, checked it's smoking crater, enjoyed magnificent views of the south of Chilé and then got to slide back down in the snow! Such a fun day! So lucky to be staying with Edwin, a mountain guide who basically organised for me to jump in on his tour group for free! Couchsurfing has been and continues to be way more than I was expecting (way more than a couch you might say!).Read more
Spent the day hiking around this beautiful national park, impressive view points of Volcan Villarrica and surrounds; waterfalls and four different lakes with magnificent turquoise water!
Camping under the stars amongst the mountains. Doesn't get much better.
Took a walk through the Andes today up to the border with Chile. Almost got blown away by the wind at 3800m, unfortunately couldn't get all the the way to the Cristo-Redentor de los Andes look out because there was a big sheet of ice over the path. Despite being summer it did snow in the mountains this weekend!! Cannot complain about the views though! The abundance of high mountains here are so incredibly impressive! Really enjoying this part of the world and it's only going to get better from here!!Read more
