• Santa Barbara County courthouse

    April 11, 2018 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 23 °C

This courthouse was built in Spanish revival colonial style, which is really popular in all of Santa Barbara: as we could see from the view from the top of the tower, there were similar red tiled buildings all around us. This is an active courthouse that is almost completely empty for the public. It was really cool to walk around, see what court hearings were scheduled for the day, go inside the law library, go inside the big and decorated court room, where weddings are held (and according to the sign, you are allowed to go in, even if one is in progress). Also the halls were decorated with murals of historic events, like argentinian pirates arriving to the city, or the Spanish themselves arriving and meeting with the Indians (very parks and recreation style, except they didn't actually show the brutality as much :D).Read more
