Hering capital - Siglúfjordur

Drive along a great ocean road. We can almost see Groenland… nothing but the sea in sight. And suddenly…. After passing through a single-lane tunnel, we are in Siglufjordur. An old Hering finishing & processing village. Totally secluded. Until 1946, only access by boat!

We have a look at the Hering Era Museum (interesting), the active fishing port, …. And then we drive in to our night stop , Olavsfjördur. Even smaller…. But: a ski jump ramp and a small ski piste with a ski lift! 🚠 ⛷️ Funny. Right at the coast. Today we are lazy and eat in a restaurant (burger, fish & chips..).

Sun is coming out, suddenly, so we decide to drive 10 mins (though another 1-lane tunnel) to the Migandfoss, falling directly over the cliffs into the sea . Since Fjord is whale territory…. 4 tourists stare at the sea… and we see …. A school of Dolphins 🐬 jumping in the distance. ❤️ Czytaj więcej
