Markets, Music & a Growing Appetite

Just around the corner from Brick Lane, I stumbled into Upmarket.

The place was buzzing.

Food stalls lined all areas of the market, with cuisines from all over the world competing for my attention. I was incredibly tempted to stop for lunch, especially since my stomach had started making its opinion very clear.

One stand immediately caught my eye.

Singaporean food!

Naturally, I snapped a photo and sent it to Sanjay.

His reply came back almost instantly:

“All fake!”

Apparently not a single dish on the menu was actually Singaporean.

I had to laugh.

Good thing I asked the expert.

Just outside, Ely’s Yard had transformed into an outdoor festival. A freestyle BMX competition was underway, with riders launching themselves high above the ramps while music blasted across the square. The atmosphere was infectious.

Eventually, I wandered over to Spitalfields Market.

Another fantastic place.

The market was packed with people, and every few metres another incredible smell drifted through the air. If you’re visiting with friends, this would be the perfect place to order several different dishes and simply share everything around the table.

Unfortunately…

I had a plan.

I was going to eat at Borough Market later.

So despite becoming increasingly hungry with every passing minute, I stubbornly carried on.
