• A day of Touring Dublin

    11. september 2024, Irland ⋅ 🌬 11 °C

Today was a tour set up with the big group as everyone else came in yesterday so the golf portion does not start until tomorrow.

The day did not start off the best as the hotel had no hot water in the rooms making trying to take a shower impossible.
Breakfast was a gong show as there were 2 other big groups departing today and everyone showed up at the same time.

We boarded a bus and drove around the downtown area as the guide pointed out various point of interest.

Our first stop was at the Epic Irish Emigration Museum. Over the last century Ireland has had millions of people emigrate to all over the world. The museum focused on the why they moved , where they moved , their culture and famous first and future generations of Irish around the world .

Our second stop was at Guinness Storehouse which is the original site of the Guinness brewery. We had an excellent tour guide where we learned about the ingredients, sourcing of the ingredients, the entire beer making process and the marketing of Guinness. We had a private tasting followed by a pint in the private bar on the top floor of the Storehouse . The view from the bar was a 360 degree view of Dublin .

Our final stop was at Trinity College which was established in 1592. Trinity College is Ireland’s oldest university modelled after Cambridge and Oxford. After a tour of the campus we visited the old library which is the home of The Book of Kells. The Book of Kells is Ireland’s most valued treasure which is an illuminated manuscript containing the four Gospels of the New Testament.
It was amazing to see the Book as well,as the Library . The Library was just as impressive.
