O Pedrouzo to SANTIAGO

Left for Santiago at 7:30 AM. Approximately 24 km's. It was very dark for the first hour because of the trees. The up and down wasn't bad, although there was climbing to do, but the excitement took over everything. The entire way, I felt so grateful that I was able to do something like this, I can't explain it right now because I don't understand everything myself. To stand outside the Cathedral was awesome, so many people, a handful that was there day 1, not many, but still so many tired but happy faces. I went to the Pilgrims Office to recieve my Compostela. It was at that moment when I was handed my certificates, and the lady said, "You are finished." Congratulations. That really hit me. I felt so fulfilled. I went to a very nice service at the Cathedral last night. Will visit St. James resting place at the Cathedral tonight. Will catch a bus to Fisterra tomorrow, they call this area the end of the world. Suppose to be very beautiful. I will catch a train to Zaragoza on Thursday to go see the Pilar of St. Mary. The will train to Milan on Friday. Feet are very sore. Was very happy I didn't have to get on the trail this morning. Thanks for all of your support, encouragement, and prayers. Santiago and Finistere

My last day in Santiago also included a bus ride to Finistere, Spain, which is called the end of the world. Walked around the city just in case I missed something. Met up with a few pilgrims I was on the Camino with at different stages. Just a little reflection. Buen Camino.もっと詳しく

Left Santiago in route to Zaragoza at 3 PM. Caught the bus for a 12 hour bus ride to that allowed me the opportunity to visit the Basílica de Pilar in Zaragoza. This was one of the highlights of my trip. In 40 AD Saint Mary appeared to St. James in spirit form upon this pillar to encourage him to continúe his Journey of spreading Christianity throughout the región, also to inform him that she would be dying soon, and he would need to return to Jeruselum for her funeral. In Jeruselum, Saint James was killed. His followers were able to secretly transport his remains to his final resting place in Santiago, Spain.もっと詳しく

Russ and Taylor wedding weekend.

Russ and Taylor's renewed there vows at the ten year mark of their marriage. The weekend sobre was held in the beautiful city of Lake Como Italy. We all stayed at the beautiful Miralago Hotel right on the lake front. The welcome party held at the Serre Del Grumello Restaurante in the Lake Como área. Day trip to Rome/ Lake Como weekend.

Before going to Lake Como for the wedding ceremony took a quick day trip to Rome. Wish I had planned for more time in the historic city. The welcome reception for the wedding was very nice. The post ceremony was held in a beautiful villa in Lake Como. I understand that it's the same villa used by John Legend and his wife two weeks earlier. The outdoor reception, followed by an indoor dinner and entertainment, was an amazing experience.もっと詳しく

Foot Prints 2023

I leave Instanbul tomorrow for home. When I left Virginia on the 17th of August, I didn't know what to expect. My intended purpose was the opportunity to tell the Lord thank you for all my many, many blessings. What I found was even more. Thank each of you that followed, that checked in from time to time, or texted words of encouragement. For that, I am very grateful. Thank you. My last group of photos is a collage from my short visits to Milan, Florence, Pisa, and Instanbul. "Take only the memories, leave only the Foot Prints".
