Mountains

We started out on our last day of the car rental to head off to Vintgar gorge and Vrsic pass. After a very challenging navigation, we found Vintgar only to learn that it was closed for maintenance. Sad. So we headed off to Vrsic pass.

Crazy road with tons of switchbacks, most of which were cobblestone. Of course, the mountain weather moved in on us and we were shrouded in mist by the time we got to the top. On the way down it rained.

Stopped at the Russian chapel erected to honor the many Russian prisoners of war from WWI that lost their lives building the road.

So we headed back and stopped again at Lake Bled. Had a nice interlude there. Nice lunch and sat by the lake watching people, swans and ducks.

Then back to Ljubljana for the evening.Read more
