Glenorchy and Lord of the Rings country

Drove up the side of the lake at its head at Glenorchy and then on to the gravel surface to explore more: we turned around after a mile or so (this is what the whole route was like until the 1990s).

Back to Queenstown then up to 2500 ft on the gondola.

Another couple of “happy hour” beers in a bar that ended up with a few more, as we got chatting to a delightful Australian couple who were here to revisit the place where they’d met 53 years ago.Read more
