• Day 2 in Budapest

    Guess what? I woke up at 5am today just to get to Széchenyi thermal baths. I was a little bit scared to use the metro that early in the morning. But it's summer so it is light and there were lots of people out. Today also included a visit to Fisherman's Bastion which was crowded with TOO MANY tour groups. People were literally fighting for spaces to take photos. Thank god for my tripod it really helps when you are a solo traveller. I met a nice Hungarian man who actually offered to take a few photos for me. He then gave me a little tour of the area and told me about Hungary's history. They were ruled by Turkey for 150 years, and then Russia took over their country for 50 years after world war 2.Read more
