With the uncertainty over passport control it seemed prudent to get to the port well in time. The ticket stated check-in closed 1 hour prior to departure so 2 should do. That meant getting there for around 12 & the apartment had to be vacated by 10. That gave us around an hour to kill somewhere along the way. Small matter of getting the car loaded & the bikes on. Needed all the time available & no sign of the missing bike computer. Decided to head to The Hague's coastal suburb - Sheveningen. A few options to pass the time - beach & pier depending on the weather. The beach walk was nice enough but they very much go for the beach club option here - couldn't understand why they hadn't taken the cushions in though - soaked. Wouldn't be sitting down. Headed back just as the sun reappeared. Typical. Off to the ferry & aside from a brain fart choosing to play chicken with a tram, a traffic jam with no cause and the dashboard choosing to be as dim as possible things were all good. Looking quite quiet and boarded way ahead of schedule - just as we walking back from the toilets - dashing back. Opted for a cabin. Admired the views from the top deck both The Hague & Rotterdam were visible despite the grim conditions.Read more
