    Gramercy Tavern

    December 11, 2016 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 32 °F

This place gets really busy, so rather than trying to get a table we came early and waited a bit for bar seating. The bartenders are beyond professional, and will give you a very accurate wait-time estimate. The food was so good! I had a Brussels sprouts entree that I wish I could make myself. Everything our party of five sampled was outstanding. I recommend this place highly, but if you can make a reservation for dining room seating a few days ahead of time you'll get to eat sooner.Read more

    Gramercy Park Hotel

    December 11, 2016 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 32 °F

This hotel is extremely cool. It's beautiful with a rough-hewn, rustic vibe. The floors in the rooms are wood, like real wood. There are lots of stylized bare light bulbs everywhere. I love it. Except for the art. What the actual f*** is up with the rabbit guy? Could you sleep with him staring at you all night?Read more

    December 10, 2016 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 32 °F

We had a private party in the cellar/basement. Really cool space, with a bar and restroom so you can spend the whole evening down there. The staff was attentive and made sure we were well taken care of. The food was amazing! We had several courses that were all really good, but the highlight was the skate.Read more

    Chelsea Market

    December 9, 2016 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 37 °F

Indoor market in a converted space that used to be... I forget, but something else. Now it's warm and cozy on a December day, and just the food smells alone are enough to make a stroll through well worth it. We ate Vietnamese sandwiches and window shopped at the most amazing seafood market. Unlike Pike Place Fish, which is messy and chaotic, this place has everything lovingly displayed in long acrylic troughs of ice. Kind of like how Japanese food differs from Chinese food--both really good, but presented in opposite ways. Anyway if I lived here I would go broke from buying fresh fish.Read more

    The High Line

    December 9, 2016 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 36 °F

Duke and I walked along The High Line, which is an elevated park along old train tracks. Even on a windy and cold day, there were tons of people exploring around up here. Great views and it's nice to walk without navigating vehicular traffic. I bet if you got up early you could run up here, but anytime the tourists (and locals) are out, forget it.Read more

    The Bear Den

    December 8, 2016 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 37 °F

Beers and Bears is a Thursday night party that features alcohol, a swarm of bearded gay dudes and, somewhat discordantly, go-go dancers in leather straps. I attended this function with one friend and ended up making many more before the night was over. Also, I never saw a single other female in the entire place.Read more
