Unfortunately for you, this place isn't for rent. However, if you know Doug and Mary, you might be lucky enough to stay at this house right on the beach in Las Conchas. We've been here a few times, but never for a whole week. Weather has run the gamut from warm and flat sea to super windy and pounding waves. Today is windy, so we went into town for lunch and to poke around on the Malacon, did some grocery shopping, bought a giant pile of fresh shrimp and fish, bought some placemats for home. On calmer days we SUPed and kayaked and walked about a zillion miles down the beach and back.Read more

Our intention was to go to Pedro's (based on Yelp reviews), but it was closed today. We got accosted by Julio when we parked--he's employed by a local resort and trolling for gringos--but he was nice and we let him lead us to Federico's. We sat on the patio with a view of the water, ate seafood and drank margaritas. I had shrimp rellanos, Tim had fish and shrimp tacos. Everything was delicious and didn't seem Americanized. This is a cash-only place, but everything is marked in US $$ amounts, or at least that's the menu we were given, now that i think about it. Anyway, I would recommend this place.Read more

Here's a tip: don't drive through this. Tim came very close to getting the car stuck, and also getting a divorce. Fortunately, with a combination of him pushing and me rocking the car back and forth, we got free. Did I tell him not to drive into this? Yes, yes I did. But once we were clear of it, it became a hilarious adventure...funny how that happens.Read more

If you don't see the billboards advertising this place along the highway from the border, you're driving with your eyes closed. I came here with Viv and Charles last year, and it was as I remembered, an amusing caricature of a Mexican bar for all the American frat boys and sorority girls staying in the nearby resorts. Margaritas are passable, food is pretty bad...just a pale imitation of what you can get cheaper and better pretty much anywhere else in town. Despite this, it was a fun place to peoplewatch on a Friday evening.Read more

One of many simple restaurants along the Malecon. Tim had been here before, so it was easy to choose before we got ambushed by all the other street hawkers representing other restaurants. We had fish and shrimp tacos, which were cheap and delicious. Didn't seem as windy here as it did back at the house, which was a bit of a blessing. Fun to watch the birds and fish right off the patio.Read more

This restaurant/bar is at the very end of the Malacone, where you have to U-turn and double back on the higher road. I would totally come here over Wrecked any day--it's got a similar "get wasted" vibe, but seems much less like a frat hangout. We came for an early dinner on a Sunday evening, so it was like us and a dozen people over 60. Whatever, it's who we've become. Fun music, good margaritas, nice view, friendly service. Win-win-win-win.Read more

This is where we get pesos. There's an ATM out front. Don't park with any tiny fraction of your car in the blue handicap parking out front or the police will get ya!

This is where all the fish markets and lots of restaurants are. We like the Satisfied Frog, El Oktopus, and Mary's. You can buy really fresh fish and shrimp at many of the shops along the water.

We often stop here on our way out of town for one last taco experience. Their mixed tacos (fish, shrimp, and marlin) are the best!
