On our way through Deming en route to Albuquerque, we stopped here for dinner. It was about 8 p.m. (oops, forgot about the time change from AZ) and Deming is a small town, so a lot of other places had already closed. Yelp told us about El Camino Real, which is nothing to look at, but is exactly what we wanted. Really good--and cheap--Mexican food. Maybe that's not hard to come by in this part of the country, but we were glad we chose this place.Read more

Rather than hole up in a hotel room all day to work, I took a walk down University Ave to find a decent coffee place. And I did! The walk here wasn't very scenic unless you like looking at freeways, but I ended up at the very Northern end of the University district, which is apparently where all the health facilities are. I am listening to the ladies next to me talk about scrubs and medical transcription, so there you have it. Anyway, this place is your standard artsy coffee place, with lots of seating, free wifi, and wonderful cold brew. Hello office-for-the-afternoon....Read more

I walked here for lunch because Yelp told me to. Bar seating was perfect, and I had a fantastic chicken salad sandwich. Kitchy decor keeps it from being a "diner." I liked it.

This place is rated 3rd best brewery in the U.S. I'm not really in a place to confirm that, but their beer was uncommonly good--we got a flight and there was nothing disappointing in it. They have a side patio that is absolutely beautiful, with tree-shade and hummingbird feeders. I would hang out here all the time if I lived here.Read more

Awesome IPA. This place apparently has more than one location. They pull off the restaurant-brewery without feeling like an Applebee's. The beer is solid if not stellar, and we had some really good green chile hummus.Read more

Good beer, but not really my thing. All their offerings were either sour or farmy or both. I got a sour raspberry which was fine, but nothing like the Bruery. Beer aside, they have a wonderful outdoor seating area, and there was a talented guitarist playing. At first we grumbled because it was pretty loud, but then we realized he was kind of awesome, and it became better.Read more

Poke bowl has made it to Albuquerque, whaddya know. Sooooo f'ing good. This place specializes in Latin American fusing the poke bowls, which unfortunately means cilantro. If you're careful, you can avoid salsa and tortilla chips in your bowl. If you're NOT careful, you avoid the chips, and wonder why there is tomato in with your fish. Whatever, still awesome.Read more
