Salkantay Trek day 5, part 2. I can’t believe we made it! We got to have a great view of the whole site and we got to walk amongst some of the buildings as well! I didn’t know you got to do that. It was very surreal to be there finally and a bit hard to take in while being so incredibly tired. However, I learned quite a bit! The Inca empire was about 300 years long and ended in the 1500s because of the Spanish colonizers. They put their cities in the mountains knowing that the valleys were best for growing food and so that their cities were closest to their gods. They did some human sacrifices and had a sundial calendar. They used sand to polish rocks into perfect squares for the rich people’s houses. It was a fun day! I then walked down the stairs with the rest of our group which was hard but we talked on the way down so it wasn’t too bad. Once we got to lunch though I was feeling the never walk again vibe! We luckily booked the train home so it was mostly naps from there. We had a few Airbnb mishaps but we made it and get to sleep in!! Czytaj więcej
