  • A German train disaster

    18 giugno 2022, Germania ⋅ ⛅ 63 °F

Leaving Germany feels so weird! We had the German Airbnb’s booked so early that it seems like time is going so fast. We of course booked Prague like 2 days in advance, never learning our lessons on this trip. We went to villingen once more to find the pasta Anna has been thinking about for 6 years, success! And to get a postcard because the store was closed last time we went, failure! It was closed again because we savored our pasta just a bit too long. I guess the world doesn’t want us to have a postcard from villingen. We then took a train 20 minutes only to sit at the tiny Immigingen train station for HOURS. It was the hottest day in recent times too which meant following the shadows as the sun kept sneaking into my little concrete space. Finally made it to the hostel in Munich which will be our stop over before Prague. Luckily the room is just us, no snorers!Leggi altro

  • We get to live on a house boat?!

    19 giugno 2022, Repubblica Ceca ⋅ ☀️ 68 °F

From Munich to Prague we took the train then walked in the heat with our backpacks, 99 degrees, officially our first heat wave of many. We are staying on a house boat on the river which is so fun and luckily has air conditioning! We like to strip down whenever we get somewhere to really get coolest as possible. “I immediately got nude” is a great quote that dream Rach said in Anna’s dream once and it has become our trip motto. We had McDonald’s because it was close and open late and we sat around a bit too long to figure out anywhere else to go.Leggi altro

  • Prague from day to night

    20 giugno 2022, Repubblica Ceca ⋅ 🌙 66 °F

This day was really perfect from start to finish. We had a good breakfast then saw the astrological clock from the 1400s I think, it still works, and only has stopped a few times over the years and has become a warning of times to come, it stopped before the second wave of COVID! We also went to the top of the tower and did a tour of the parliament areas and the old town streets buried under the current Prague. So crazy to imagine people were capable of so much with such little technology compared to us. They raised the level of the city by like 30 feet!? Crazy. We then did a pub crawl! Unlimited drinks for like 2 hours and then free drinks everywhere we went. Met so many awesome travelers and had a great time dancing and chatting and even played beer pong with our new Australian friend!Leggi altro

  • I love Prague!

    21 giugno 2022, Repubblica Ceca ⋅ ⛅ 61 °F

This church is also extremely old in a way my brain can’t comprehend. It’s so detailed and absolutely enormous. It also had the most beautiful, by a wide margin, stained glass windows I have ever seen! So many rich colors and detailed designs with beautiful nature depicted as well as churchy figures. We went to the top of this tower as well which of course involved stairs! Our favorite. We finished the day with a 3 hour boat cruise with champagne and a buffet and live music. Literally what more could a girl want?!Leggi altro

  • Vienna Bound

    21 giugno 2022, Austria ⋅ ☀️ 75 °F

Another train day, really getting our money’s worth on the eurail pass. We had a doner when we got to Vienna which I ate in a very proper and sophisticated way, as I am known to do. We are staying with Anna’s friend in her roommates room which is such a lovely set up. Her room is the dream in terms of decorations and Cecilias other roommates are cool too! It’s hot and Austria doesn’t really do AC so we shall see how the week goes…Leggi altro

  • Being tourists and park sitters

    23 giugno 2022, Austria ⋅ ☁️ 64 °F

We made today about seeing the tourist spots of Vienna. Their great tram system was able to get us into the main town and we walked around to see their old churches and statues. We also found a couple parks which we sat in for a few hours each as usual. Trying to keep to the shade as it’s a warm one. After park 2 me and mike split from Anna for a bit but then took the tram back to meet her for dinner on a terrace over the river.Leggi altro

  • Cherish All Children 5k

    24 giugno 2022, Austria ⋅ 🌙 63 °F

Vienna is having their biggest music festival this weekend and it’s free! We figured this sounded like it was right up our alley so we wanted to go both days. But first we had to do the cherish all children’s 5k. We almost always walk more than 5k in a day but something about doing it on purpose (and let’s be honest, at a faster than grandmas pace) it felt a bit harder than I would have expected. But let’s blame the sun, we walked along the river back and forth a couple times to get to the 5k and then looked around the festival which, you guessed it, involved more walking. Then we went back to Cecilia’s to cook dinner together. Which mainly meant she cooked and we watched her. It was delish vegan pasta and it was fun to have dinner with another new friend!Leggi altro

  • Grateful for a tour guide!

    25 giugno 2022, Austria ⋅ 🌧 61 °F

Cecilia was our guide today. She took us to the market, to have Viennese cake, we also tried the banana one which was so yummy, and to this cool apartment designed by a famous artist. We had schnitzel Austria style and went in a big bubble! Such fun acoustics in there. Then back to the festival with more of Cecilia’s friends. We listened to the techno djs and had beer. It was fun to dance and a guy even paid for our drinks just because he didn’t want to wait for us to use a credit card! We then had to pee and lost our spot in the crowd and ended up eating some fair food and going home instead of going out. Food over parties tends to be our way.Leggi altro

  • We’re just big kids

    26 giugno 2022, Austria ⋅ ☀️ 70 °F

We went to the park for a picnic and found the best part of the park, the playground! So much fun and this slide was so fast, definitely not made for children! how come Europe gets all the good playgrounds? Then we had all you can eat sushi and Asian food which was exciting because we got to try a bunch of things and felt fancy ordering on our iPad. Then me and Anna planned our future Christmas play which will be performed in our shared pool and uses only sounds and no words, so get excited about that. It’s called Gretel and the witch, Anna is the witch as you can clearly see in the last pic!Leggi altro

  • Sky’s the limit!

    27 giugno 2022, Austria ⋅ ☀️ 63 °F

Day trip to Salzburg to go paragliding! This is by far the biggest thing on the trip bucket list and it’s now or never so off we go. We took the bus up up up the hill and had the most fantastic view. Then as soon as we were up there we got on our harnesses, strapped onto the guides, and the wind pulled us up. We were told there would be a little walk, then run, and then up in the air but I don’t remember anything except the wind dragging me away from the ground. Then we were flying! I went first and watched the others take off. Then it was just a relaxed float up and down and around in the air around the hill and surrounding land. I was a bit nervous and semi nauseous so me and my guide took it slow, but wow the view and the feeling of flying with nothing around you, no windows blocking the view, was surreal. We then were driven into town by one of the paragliding guides and he told us where to eat dinner and that we have to come back to Salzburg for more adventures! Dinner was amazing and we had elderflower beer!Leggi altro

  • Hot hot hot

    28 giugno 2022, Austria ⋅ ☁️ 68 °F

It’s been hot all week in Vienna, which becomes mostly an issue when eating because it’s such a workout I guess haha. I was in a pool of my own sweat in that first pick, why was I eating hot and spicy food? But it was worth it for the taste. We saw some more sites and had ice cream multiple times. We then met Cecilia for dinner at the river side beach bar which was so cute and the perfect place for chats and a final hangout.Leggi altro

  • Budapest finally!

    29 giugno 2022, Austria ⋅ ⛅ 68 °F

So excited to be in Budapest because me and Anna were almost going to go here on our trip before study abroad and I knew it looked so fun and cool. So 2 years later here we are. And it is so cute! We picked the perfect street without even knowing. So many restaurants right outside the door of the apartment and it’s near many famous clubs and bars. It’s beyond hot of course so being close to things will be a lifesaver. It’s also a no cars type street which gives it the cute European vibe that most of America is sadly missing.Leggi altro

  • History and head banging

    30 giugno 2022, Ungheria ⋅ 🌙 75 °F

We are gonna be early birds now because there’s no way we are walking around in 100 degree weather. So we got up early and had breakfast. Then picked one site to see. Great beautiful church with a tower to climb, gotta get the booty workout in before 11am. We also saw some dead guys hand…? Very holy, semi creepy. We then partied European style by starting at 10pm and being out till like 3:30am. I had the best time of my whole life, at least the best time ever at a night club, in the rock room at this huge club with different rooms playing different music. We of course chose the room where they were playing rock and heavy metal. I head banged till my neck was sore and I laughed the whole time and couldn’t stop smiling at how we ended up here, but the vibes were so open and free that I just couldn’t not be fully into it.Leggi altro

  • The post party spa day

    1 luglio 2022, Ungheria ⋅ ☀️ 88 °F

We did not get up early today after our late night, early birds can be for another day. We instead booked a massage, had lunch at like 4pm, bought some very cute souvenirs, and then walked to have dinner only a few hours later. I had crispy goose leg which was pretty good but the crispy skin was almost too crispy somehow. Then we sent to the big famous spa for their Friday night lights party. We talked to a bunch of British people and just danced in the warm water to some techno tribal music and then walked home even though it was quite chilly for once, I guess night owls get cool weather too.Leggi altro

  • Staying up all night part 1

    2 luglio 2022, Ungheria ⋅ ⛅ 66 °F

This is the day part of the staying up all night adventure. I got up and went to get us donuts by myself, which I’m never by myself because I have no phone, so this was exciting. Then we bought some cute rings for only 5 euros at the vintage market that happens every weekend right on the street we are staying. We then walked across the river to buda and saw the palace of buda and the fisherman’s wharf. It was a lot of walking but the weather was manageable which is appreciated.Leggi altro

  • Staying up all night part 2

    2 luglio 2022, Ungheria ⋅ ☀️ 86 °F

Getting more and more European by the day. Tonight we didn’t go out till after midnight already, but the plan is to stay till bar close at 6am so it’s for the best. We went to the famous ruin bar which is made in an old factory type building. It has so many rooms and halls and decorations it’s really a fun place just to look around. We met some people from the states and ended up hanging with them all night. We danced and they bought us all our drinks, thanks guys! We returned to the rock room but mostly were in the techno room. We were just trying to dance with our own little group however guys kept joining the fun and we kept trying to run away. This strategy was lost on our new friends as they kept inviting people into the group like long lost buddies. After going to sleep for most of the day, and freaking out in my case because of anxiety about Chris, we had a chimney cake and went to bed for the second time that day.Leggi altro

  • Back in salzburg

    4 luglio 2022, Ungheria ⋅ 🌙 72 °F

We took the advise of the local and came back to Salzburg to see more stuff. We are technically staying across the boarder in Pidding, Germany though. We had Burger King because we deserve it after another train day. It’s a cute small town in the mountains which makes the view worth it even if you’re just eating fast food.Leggi altro

  • Nothing day

    4 luglio 2022, Germania ⋅ ⛅ 77 °F

I’m out of energy and focused on Chris so I literally did nothing again today. I did talk to Delaney which made me feel a lot better and by the end of the night me and Chris had finally talked so yay! I’m putting the pictures of me and my rock here because she’s really working hard to get me through all this. She’s also an ever changing chameleon which I didn’t know rocks could do so I’m learning a lot and now understand the concept of a pet rock a lot more. Where do these white spots keep coming from?Leggi altro

  • Trains, slides, salt mines

    6 luglio 2022, Austria ⋅ ⛅ 59 °F

We went to the salt mine in Salzburg to experience the underground boat and slides they use for getting around down there. They also have a little train, elevators, and many tunnels all used for getting salt out of the rocks. It was in a very beautiful place and was a fun tour which involved costumes so nothing to complain about! I found my unicorn brethren and we did some classic art depictions too!Leggi altro

  • Lib-ij-oo-aw-na

    8 luglio 2022, Slovenia ⋅ ⛅ 59 °F

We are in Ljubljana the capitol of Slovenia. Which we didn’t know how to pronounce before we got here and were calling it lib-ij-oo-aw-na. We like to just make sounds with most of the letters of the word to indicate to each other where we are going as we often don’t know how to say the tiny towns we are going to or through. Me and mike explored for awhile, saw the cutest little main road I might have seen yet, and got some tacos, ice cream, and a crepe from this fancy food market. We then watched movies in the Airbnb.Leggi altro

  • Lake Bled and beautiful

    9 luglio 2022, Slovenia ⋅ 🌙 48 °F

Holy wow another day for the books. This place cannot be described with words it’s so gorgeous. MN might have great lakes but we are missing out not having this glacier water. It was a bit chilly for swimming but we got in anyway and had a picnic on the dock over looking the most magical tree covered mountains. The greens and blues are such incredible colors here. We also checked another thing off the trip bucket list, personal boating experience. Didn’t know we were gonna be on a row boat to check that off but it was so fun to try and we had a cider while we took turns trying to go in a straight line. Ended the night with a great burger, because as the restaurant was called, it’s Burger Time!Leggi altro

  • We are spelunkers

    10 luglio 2022, Slovenia ⋅ ⛅ 63 °F

We went to a cave in Slovenia which has the largest cavern in Europe. It was beautiful with towering stalagmites and cool rock structures and lots of old stairs and bridges from the days when the cave was discovered. It was cool to see a running river in a cave and to see the history of spelunkers past still evidenced in their tiny steps and very very rickety rope bridges. We then hiked through the collapsed part of the cave which had beautiful greenery. After all that we had to run for more than a mile to get to the train station in time to catch the train which would allow us to get home for dinner. Which was necessary as we missed breakfast due to it being Sunday and the grocery store which we planned to go to was closed. I met a local on the train who offered to take us to get a local specialty (very reminiscent of Mad’s stuffies) and then we had dessert and headed home to pack up for leaving the next day!Leggi altro

  • Off to Croatia

    11 luglio 2022, Slovenia ⋅ ⛅ 66 °F

We got Asian noodles and hopped on the train to Croatia. We got a cabin to ourselves which was fun because it meant listening to music out loud and making a list reminiscing on all the country specific and/or new foods we have tried over the last 2 1/2 months. The bus that took us from the train station to our Airbnb had beautiful views and then we had a bit of a scare we wouldn’t get dinner because we had no cash, but managed to find an ATM and eat at like 10:30pm.Leggi altro

  • A beachy blur

    13 luglio 2022, Croazia ⋅ ⛅ 66 °F

Croatia really was just beach times, and me and mike walking a few miles to the tiny little grocery store to get us food. Honestly don’t know specifics about what went down on the 12th at all. I assume I was tanning, it’s getting to be the last days to soak up the sun. On the 13th we did manage to do a bit more because we had sea food and watched the moon rise. It was so yellow and glowy which was such a unique experience to see over the ocean. The 14th was again a very hot walk and then tanning, and cooking more chicken and corn which is all the grocery store had to offer. (I had to use a knife to stab a hole in the corn can as the tab which was supposed to open it broke off, I worked for that corn, better enjoy it!)Leggi altro
