Often made us nice pancakes. After breakfast at dune 45 we walked to death valley, a hot walk even early morning. A real dessert walk. Sand dunes all around.

Deserted campsite

We arrived at this campsite that is no longer in use. However the toilet is still in working order. We had to set up the tents with a lot of wind. And also some rain.

But when I am writing this, the wind stopped blowing, the rain past and it is almost 10 pm.

We are next to a dam. And again had a beautiful sunset. It was a peaceful night at the campfire. But everyone went to bed early, after the early start and the hot and long day.

I can already hear some of the group snoring, and I hope to join them soon in a peaceful sleep.Read more

Last day in Namibia

We left again at 6:50 on our way to Fish River Canyon. From there we drive to the border where we will sleep.

I had a terrible night. The ground radiated so much heat still that it fell like I was lying on a heater... The temperature didn't drop below 28..

I am tired, grumpy and stinky, as the last camp was a bush camp with out showers. While we had stinking sweaty day yesterday in the dessert.Read more

Last campsite in Namibia

We arrived at our last Namibian campsite. It is 41° C in the shade. Too hot. Just had a shower, now on my way to the pool. That is huge benefit coming out of a dusty dessert.

We arrived in Stellenbosch. My trip finishes here. Some of the group will be travelling further to Johannesburg. Some new people come on. Some others get of.

Andrew picked me up from Stellenbosch, and I came home to a dark Cape Town, due to loadshedding...

With a lot of laundry, but even more pictures and stories! What a special trip it was!
